As the new year kicked off, so did a calendar of events for Women in Finance. From welcomes and casual catch-ups to industry insights and career conversations, the start of 2025 has already set the bar high. These early events not only connected our members with each other, but also with leaders across top firms like Citibank, Barrenjoey, and Macquarie. Here’s a look back at the moments that made our start to the year so special.

Welcome Drinks kicked off our first event of the year, setting a great tone for the semester ahead. The strong turnout showed just how much excitement and momentum the club is building.

The Panel event was a great opportunity to learn about the pathways of finance and the different roles students can pursue throughout their careers. There was a chance to ask questions and gain insights into the finance industry and the panelists were from major companies such as Barrenjoey, Macquarie MLC etc making the event interactive and entertaining. The event left our members feeling motivated and ready to take on the finance world!

New members were officially welcomed into the WIF community. The night was filled with laughs, trivia, good snacks, and a chance to meet fellow members and Execs. It was a great way to learn more about the society’s goals. Huge thanks to Mikayla (President), Braveena (Vice President), and the rest of the Exec team for hosting such a fun night.

Our panel event was hosted in collaboration with Macquarie’s CGM team. There was a theme of lateral movement within the firm – many shared how they navigated to different roles, discovering their area of interest. This was an encouraging reminder to us to take ownership of our career paths after university. It was also inspiring to hear from individuals who are just a few years ahead of us, sharing what is possible in such a dynamic industry.
